My name is Margie Karl, and I am an attorney serving the greater Cleveland area. I earned my undergraduate degree at Marietta College and went on to complete my graduate studies at the School of Law at the University of Akron. I am a native Ohioan, a dedicated Cleveland sports fan, and I love northeast Ohio. I live with my family in Olmsted Falls and have been assisting clients on Cleveland's westside for over 15 years and have provided legal services to almost 4,000 clients to date. I offer a wide range of legal services, but estate planning and elder law are my main areas of expertise.

As an estate planning and elder care attorney, I enjoy connecting with people and helping them as we work together to achieve their goals, whether it be in my office or at their kitchen table. My father married later in life, and I learned early on about the importance of preparing for retirement and the problems faced by our aging population. As a result, I am committed to providing clients with sound advice that will help them plan for their future. My practice is focused on assisting individuals and families who are facing difficult decisions regarding health care, financial security, family relationships, and end-of-life issues.

Planning for the future can be difficult and confusing. I find that people often put off making these difficult decisions and plans because it is so frustrating. I help my clients with senior life planning, which includes things like protecting their assets, making sure they have a good quality of life in their later years, making advanced directives, power of attorney, living wills, and transferring their assets.

I am responsive to my clients—phone calls are usually returned the same day, typically within a few hours. At no time during the provision of my legal services do I allow documents to be left sitting for days. Most importantly, I will work hard to make sure you are comfortable with and understand the legal advice I give you.

I make myself accessible to my clients—If a client is physically unable to come to my office, I am more than willing to meet with them in their home, care facility, or even their hospital room. I am available to my clients on evenings and weekends by phone or in person for appointments, especially in emergent situations. I have worked with clients as far west as Sandusky, as far east as Youngstown, and as far south as the Akron/Canton region.

My staff and I take the precautions suggested by COVID-19 because we often work with clients who have major health issues.

I won't recommend legal documents that don't meet the needs of your personal situation. I ensure my clients have a full understanding of the legal documents I recommend and customize to achieve their personal goals. I am always happy to answer questions and/or explain legal terms. I want my clients to feel comfortable about the steps they are taking to address their needs, regardless of whether they are immediate or long-term in nature.

I understand the frustration of dealing with long-term planning. It's unfortunate that some of the circumstances under which I come to work with my clients are not ideal and may cause a lot of emotion and stress to be felt by them. I recognize that clients may be dealing with their situation for the first time. You can count on my professionalism and compassion as I help you to navigate and resolve issues.
My fees are reasonable and affordable. I have been told by my clients that my fees are usually less than those of other attorneys with whom they have consulted for their legal needs.
